Marcie the Marvelous Tree
in El Segundo, California has recently been named a Famous
& Historic Tree by American Forests. Marcie, a California
Sycamore, was the first tree planted by the eight-year-old
founders of Tree Musketeers, the nation’s first non-profit
group run by children. She represents the birth of the youth
environmental movement and has "written" her own
autobiography along with editorials for local newspapers.
Since 1987, Marcie has inspired children in Southern California
and around the world to plant trees as a response to pollution,
resource depletion, and conflict. You can order baby Marcie
trees from the Historic Tree Nursery! |
